Beneficial Brainstorming in the Rain

Today was a great day of brainstorming. Some people dread rainy days, but I embrace them. I don't know if I'm just more reflective or relaxed with the sound of rain drops hitting the roof and windows, but I always seem to think more clearly when it's raining. Today was no exception. A long walk in the right gear was just what I needed this afternoon. As the air smells clean and fresh when it rains, I was able to clear out the cobwebs in my mind and think of stories for three picture books.

I've always considered myself more of an illustrator without intent to write my own manuscripts, but it seems that working through these ideas will help me focus my artwork with my audience consistently in mind.

What helps you get through a creative slump?

Stay tuned over the next few weeks as I work through and post my progress on these projects.

Thanks for visiting!

  2. No rain here Sean, but I had the day off and enjoyed some coffee looking out the windows at the dreary weather while I worked on my sweepstakes blog http://www.artofwinningblog.com . You asked the question, "What helps you get through a creative slump?". Well I think going for a good walk or run is my way of breaking the slump too. Seems like when you get outside and get outside of whatever day to day distractions occupy your time, you can come up with a surprising amount of creativity. I suspect that's why so many people suffer from a lack of creativity. They give it their all on the job for the whole day and afterwards don't really devote any time to thinking. Definitely a good reason to force yourself outside for some sort of activity every day. Good post dude... enjoyed it.
